Physician Leadership Education Series: Navigating the New CMS Attestation Requirements – On Demand Recording for CME Credit

Effective in 2025, CMS has adopted the Patient Safety Structural Measure (PSSM) attestation requirements as a way to motivate hospital leaders to increase their investment and resources in their continuing efforts to improve patient care.

This session will present an overview of the new CMS Patient Safety Structural Measure, its five (5) Domains, and their associated Hospital Board attestation requirements.

The panelists will discuss major pitfalls and gaps that organizations may experience when auditing their present situation, and suggest concrete ways in which to achieve successful compliance with this new PSSM.

Desired outcomes:

    1. Clearly identify the Five (5) domains of attestation that are required.
    2. Cite at least three (3) areas that most likely will require action based on general findings.
    3. State at least three approaches that an organization might use to improve the communication of these requirements to Board members.
    4. Gain an understanding of the role that Medical Staff leaders must take in ensuring compliance with the new PSSM.
    5. Reflect on the patient populations we serve and consider how implicit bias may impact appropriate care of these patients.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of CME Consultants and Hardenbergh Group.
